If you want to know more, here is my profile.

My name is Shafizan Johari, a Forward Planning Editor cum Lead Editor at Astro Awani, a Malaysian mainstream news and current affairs organisation. My expertise includes content development that encompasses ideation, strategy and implementation. I’m also well versed in digital content data analytics. My active contribution towards the organisation's goals and vision collectively led towards Astro Awani being recognised as the most trusted news brand in the country (Reuters Digital News Report 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021) and the Number 1 news brand on social media (in 2021).

I was also given many opportunities to share my knowlegde and skills in media and communications to various organisations across many sectors (corporations and non-profits alike), helping them in capacity building towards effective communications. I am also working with various organizations to raise awareness on sustainability through effective storytelling, not to just engage the public in sustainability issues but also to influence positive change in the community.

I am passionate about socioeconomic issues especially those involving rural communities and the urban poor which date back to my student days; overseeing capacity building activities as part of community development. I am currently involved in several civil society organisations (CSOs); and I am also the board of trustees for Teach for The Needs (TFTN), a non-profit organization that aims to provide equal education opportunities for marginalized communities.

In 2016, I was awarded the Khazanah Media Fellowship as part of the Khazanah Residency Programme where I completed the Wolfson Press Fellowship at the University of Cambridge. To date, the Fellowship have had 350 reputable journalists from 50 countries, and have greatly contributed to diversifying my knowledge and widening my perspectives on best journalism practices.

I am currently a Master research student at University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur in the anthropology history field.
