How did I make 2021 as the year for a GREAT RESET, and why I am doing it again in 2022?!

How did I make 2021 as the year for a GREAT RESET, and why I am doing it again in 2022?!
When setting a new resolution won't do it, that's when you need to think about making a RESET!

IT'S  that time of year again when everyone is making resolutions for the new year. For many, this is a time of hope and optimism for the future. But sometimes it can be tough to get started on those resolutions, especially if we're feeling like we've been stuck in a rut. When it comes to situations like this, setting a new resolution won't be enough and that's why you need to think about making a RESET!

1. Make a list of things you want to change or accomplish in the new year
The new year is a great time to make resolutions and start fresh. I always like to write down some things that I want to change or accomplish so that it will be easier for me to keep track of them.

Start with a list of the big picture goals you want to accomplish, such as going back to school or improving your relationships.

For 2021 for example, I went back to university, as a graduate student. To start the enrollment, there are several tasks such as completing a thesis proposal, before being accepted into the program.

In the busyness of work, a detailed rearrangement of time can help to reduce stress or anxiety, helping us achieve so many goals in our lives. So Take time to plan out how you'll make those happen and set deadlines.

This is when the resetting comes in. I evaluate my priorities. How important are my studies and how much time shall I allocate to doing my studies every week? Would I need to reduce my overtime hours at the office? Or should I reduce my social time with my friends and family? How do I conserve my energy to do my studies after working hours? What shall be the motivation? These are the question that I need to answer to help me with resetting my life goals.

2. Give yourself time to relax and recharge - take some time for yourself
Taking time to relax and recharge is important for you. Your mind, body and spirit need some relaxation from time to time in order to restore themselves.

Whether it's a short walk or just taking some time to do what you love, take some time for yourself and unwind.

Being in a lockdown for a long period of time in 2021 certainly has an impact on our mental, so when the opportunity arises, take the time to get out and reconnect with nature and our environment.

As we are learning to live with the pandemic, don't forget to experience something new, meet new people and discover new interests. This is part of our growth as individuals.

3. Set realistic goals and be patient with yourself
When you set goals for yourself, don't be too hard on yourself. It's great to have the ultimate goal in mind, but it helps to break things down into smaller steps. Also, remember that success doesn't happen overnight!

Make sure that your goals are something you enjoy, otherwise, it will be difficult to achieve them. And remember to always stay positive - keep going, even if the road is long.

Be patient with yourself and take it one step at a time, you'll get there.

4. Find a support group or accountability partner to help keep you on track
There are tons of things you can do to stay on track. For example, join a message board or forum where people share their experiences and ask questions. It's also important to find an accountability partner who will keep you honest.

Find a support group or accountability partner to help keep you on track. In my case I have Shamsul Qamar which I would share my progress with and help me to evaluate how should I move forward. Thanks Shun!!

Let say, If you want to lose weight, find a support group or accountability partner. You'll have someone who will help encourage and keep you accountable as you work toward your goals.

In my case, I use the Naluri App.

Naluri’s integrated digital care solution combines support for physical and mental health to address multiple chronic health conditions and delivers quantifiable health outcomes.

It comes with an easy to use yet comprehensive programme via a smartphone app to help you to track new positive habits and when necessary, to reach out to health or physical consultants.

Whether you want to lose weight, improve nutrition, manage a chronic health condition, or reduce your anxiety, you set your goals and Naluri has specific programmes to help you to get there.

Through my subscription, I was also given a dedicated consultant, Erica, whom I can reach out via the app any time of the day, helping me to give perspectives and motivation whenever I encounter any slumps.

Erica turns out to be my trusted accountability partner, who doesn't only help to push and motivate but also to give perspective and help me to think whenever I face stumbling blocks.

Whether you want to lose weight, improve nutrition, manage a chronic health condition, or reduce your anxiety, you set your goals and Naluri has specific programmes to help you to get there.

5. Celebrate your successes along the way!
It's important to celebrate your successes as you're going through life. Whether that's by treating yourself to a meal or buying a new possession. When you do something right, take the time to enjoy it!

I cannot stress enough that celebrating your successes is important to building a successful career and life. And not only will you feel great, but those around you, especially the people you really care about will notice,  when they see the progress you've achieved as you share your journey with them.

It's important to celebrate even the smallest of achievements. When you achieve something, even a small one, it gives you motivation and inspiration to continue working hard toward achieving those goals in the future!

Tasty fried prawns are a great indulgence to a great year! I had this recently during my short visit to Kuala Terengganu.
....and I had a lot of amazing foods! Nasi Kerabu Pok Din in Kuala Terengganu is the best Nasi Kerabu I've ever tasted. What a great celebration!
