Food sharing isn't meant for the IG, only!
The concept of food sharing nowadays has gone to a different level. The food sharing that we have known today is more about food flaunting, "showing off" what you eat.
"Take nice photos of what you eat, and share it on Instagram," I once told my Mom as she was learning the way into the photo-sharing app. As a context, she wanted to show her new creations after a whole day in a baking workshop.
I'm not a stranger to foodporn-ism in the IG. I might not an influencer with multi-million followers, and able to garner thousands of likes every time I "share" my lunch with the world, but unfortunately, I am too, have fallen to that category - a foodporn-ist.
"I miss your sister's home cooking," I texted Hyder a couple of days ago. It has been a while since I DMed him, especially after the last 500 days, which he started work from home. All this while our communications were only concentrated around work and it only happens in the office's WhatsApp group.
Before the pandemic, Hyder sits in front of me at the office and whenever I needed a ride, he'd send me home as my house is kinda on the way.
And we share quite a lot of stories. Works, others and personal. And I miss that.
"Oh my sister usually cooks a lot and I can send over some to you," he replied.
The next day, a rider sent three packs of fish curries and another pack of stir-fried meat - the true meaning of food sharing.
After all, food sharing is not just sharing food. It's sharing a piece of their daily life with you.
